Description:
The Vineyard Haven Harbor District was created to maintain and enhance the cultural heritage and economic vitality of the Vineyard Haven Harbor and waterfront: to promote the year 'round working waterfront and traditional waterfront industries and services; to promote pedestrian access along the waterfront; to protect habitats and water quality; to promote and protect shellfish habitats and fisheries; to maintain and manage the navigational resources of the harbor.

harbor waters southwest of Lagoon Pond inlet; inland to MHW on residential side, to Water St. and Beach Road in commercial area, and including all lands of Lagoon Harbor Park to MLW of Lagoon Pond

fishing resource; wildlife, natural, ecological or scientific resource; cultural or historic resource; economic or development resource; major public investment
General Restrictions:
specific uses allowed for various defined areas of the harbor waters, some requiring a Harbor Use Permit from the Board of Selectmen; commercial uses of piers require Harbor Use Permit; some land uses require Harbor Use Permit; specific uses, such as taking on passengers for gambling, are prohibited
