Shellfish as a Means to Reduce Nitrogen Impacts in Coastal Water
Description:
Shellfish particularly oysters can remove significant amounts of nitrogen from the water column and thereby reduce the impacts of excess nitrogen loading in the watershed. They accomplish this by filtering out the particles from over 20 gallons of pond water per animal per day.
