Description:
The beginning of October certainly turned out to be an interesting time to take up the reins of the Martha’s Vineyard Commission, with several rather tense meetings and the agency making the cover of the New York Times. Although we are not out of the woods yet, I hope we can soon put the divisive golf debate behind us and start working together on the bigger issues of properly planning and managing development on the whole Island. There is so much work to do to deal with the very real problems we are facing such as traffic management, preservation of scenic values and open land, affordable housing, water quality, coastal management and historic preservation.
